Why Read Guilty?

When I was preparing to travel to Maine this past summer, I was in the market for a new book to read as I wasted away on the beach. As I wondered the isles of Barnes & Noble, I was drawn to Guilty by Laura Elliot. This book details the story of a missing girl and how a reporter turned the girl's uncle, Karl Lawson, into a prime suspect. The book goes on in time as it explores Karl's life after it was destroyed by the reporter. Despite spending three days on a Maine beach and getting wildly sunburnt, I did not get a chance to read Guilty. I would still really like to read this book and this class would make me to read the book and force me to stop making excuses.

I think it would be beneficial to read this book in class because it is by an Irish author. That means that the language used in the book would not be entirely familiar to us. Reading this book would offer a chance to explore a different English dialect.
